#ARCAM A65 PLUS REVIEW FULL#
It resulted in Arcam's new Digitally integrated Video and Audio (DiVA) series of components, positioned one step below their top line, the Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) series. It's just such a systems approach that Arcam used in their attempt to satisfy the need of demanding music-only listeners for high-performance, high-value electronics, while at the same time offering multifunction capabilities to home-theater enthusiasts. Thus we're now witnessing a new generation of exceptionally musical electronics with high-end performance targeted at two-channel enthusiasts, but all primped and prepped for integration into an expanded audio-video rig. The last suggestion is a good one - take your speakers with you to the audio shop and try out before you commit.Although audiophiles may muster little enthusiasm for the home-theater-driven audio marketplace of the 21st century, its prerequisites have inspired manufacturers to cram as wide a range of flexible programming features into as highly resolved a set of performance packages as possible. You no doubt would have read the reviews regarding the design of the brio r - its a no nonsense pure bread analogue with no frills - just pure clean direct power which is not pretty to look at but is plenty gutsy in producing some great music. I suggest you reconsider your current speakers before venturing into expensive power amp combinations. I'm surprised that everyone loves the rega, though in the shop I did like it.Ī bit sad at your disappointment and sounds like you need to make a decision, but your speakers may well be the problem and I assume you have have checked all conectivities? I auditioned the brio r (50W RMS pc) with Vienna's, Sonus Faber Toy bookshelves as well as the Paradigm Reference C60 (Floor standing) and the Reference Studios 20 bookshelves - they were all excellent combinations? I auditioned the Arcam a18 (with the Dynoaudio Focus 160 - the amp was wanting as compared to the Rotel 1520 or better still the Arcam a28 (75W RMS pc). I'm now wandering if I should consider the arcam a19, a18 creek or rotel.

The room it's in is a converted garage, I listen to alt country, rock pretty much everything except classical and dance music. The arcam seems warmer and fuller and has more bass where the rega brio r seems a bit hollow and almost shrill. I think the rega has more clarity and detail and has more get up and go but on the whole lacks the soundstage and bass weight of the arcam.Īfter 30 mins I turned it off and hooked the arcam back up. I was going to buy the rega but as they didn't have any in stock I've borrowed their demo unit until Monday. I was really happy with the sound but was looking for a bit more punch as the arcam sounded a bit laid back with rock music.

My current set up is a second system comprising of an arcam a65 plus monitor audio rs5's and a rega rp1. I've just brought home a rega brio r after reading all the reviews but I'm feeling a bit disappointed.
